Mock fire-fighting exercise in CWG secretariat

A mock fire-fighting drill was held at the Commonwealth Games secretariat here on Tuesday, dealing with aspects like rescue operation and dousing flames by use of automatic sprinkler system.

Employees of the fire department of New Delhi Municipal Council took part in the exercise, held as a part of ‘Fire Week’, the NDMC said.

The mock exercise dealt with various aspects of fire—fighting which included rescue operation carried in high—rise buildings, extinguishing the fire by automatic sprinkler system, CO2 flooding system and dry chemical flooding system.

NDMC Chairperson Parimal Rai, National Civil Defence College Director G. K. Saini and Delhi Fire Service chief S. K. Sharma were present.

Mr. Rai said citizens should have basic fire—fighting knowledge to help minimise casualties in mishaps.
