Girl undergoes operation, condition stated to be critical
A nine-year-old minor was raped and allegedly sodomised by a 25-year-old man at Bara Hindu Rao in North Delhi on Sunday. The girl’s condition is critical after the incident and she has been admitted at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital.
The accused was arrested on Monday. He was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody.
The doctors at the hospital said that the victim underwent an operation on Monday, but her condition is still critical.
They said they would perform another surgery if her condition continues to remain critical over the next twenty-four hours.
According to the father of the victim, the incident took place on Sunday around 6-30 p.m. when her daughter, who studies in Class III at a nearby government school, was playing in front of her house along with two other friends when she was spotted by the accused.
The accused, identified as Gopi Nisha Malha, approached them and asked them to come along with him to a nearby place.
The other two girls managed to flee from the spot, but the accused managed to catch hold of the victim.
He gagged her mouth and took her to a nearby place, where he allegedly raped her.
Two hours later, the victim’s mother spotted them at Nawabganj area. After seeing the mother, the accused fled the spot.
The victim was immediately rushed to the nearby Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, where she was kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The police registered a case under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 376 (punishment for rape), 377 (unnatural offences) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 3/4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 at the Bara Hindu Rao police station.
