Minor raped at govt. hospital

April 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - New Delhi:

A 15-year-old girl, who stayed overnight at a government hospital to look after her brother, was allegedly raped by a nursing orderly late on Sunday night.

The accused, identified as 24-year-old Manjeet, was handed over to the police after being caught red-handed. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The alleged incident happened in Delhi Government’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. The girl’s five-year-old brother, who was suffering from breathing problems, had been admitted to the hospital a few days ago. Since another of her brother was ill, too, on Sunday, her parents requested her to take care of the brother who had already been hospitalised.

Around midnight, her brother’s condition started worsening and she decided to seek help. “As the girl was walking in the corridors, the nursing orderly allegedly pulled her into a room and raped her,” said a senior police officer.
