The 19-year-old brother of a minor girl who was molested by a conductor in an Orange “Cluster scheme” bus near Mandi House in the heart of the city on Saturday night has been arrested at Khayala in West Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting her.
The victim revealed the trauma she underwent at the hands of her brother during counselling that was conducted after the police rescued her and arrested conductor Ranjit Singh for molesting her in the moving bus. The victim alleged that about three years ago, she left home and started living at a juvenile care centre being run by a non-government organisation at Tughaqabad in South Delhi to evade sexual exploitation by her brother.
The girl returned home nearly six months ago thinking that her brother would have changed his ways. However, his atrocities on her continued unabated. “On Saturday evening she had heated exchange with her parents as her father had married for the third time a few days ago against her wishes. She then left her residence and boarded a bus for Lajpat Nagar where she planned to take shelter in an orphanage,” said a police officer.
When she did not return home, her father lodged a kidnapping case at the Khayala police station.
Based on the victim’s statement, the West Delhi Police invoked provisions pertaining to rape and arrested the brother.
The traumatised victim was rescued by a police team which spotted her in the bus plying on Route 410 from Khayala Resettlement Colony to Jal Vihar Terminal at Mandi House around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Investigations revealed that Ranjit Singh, a conductor in another bus running on the same route, molested the victim finding her alone. He was allegedly in an inebriated state.
The incident came to light when the bus driver stopped at Mandi House to make enquiries about the route, close to a regular police picket. Two constables posted there spotted the girl weeping inside the bus and swung into action taking Ranjit into custody.

This is the time not to celebrate something but this is the time to remember and feel sad for the one who was raped, tortured and brutally killed. our govt. has failed on this act to protect the women. I ask the people of india to join our hands to fight against these kind of incident's and to prevent and to fight for women's rights.
I request the authorities to take strict action against the accused we want the women to be safe in india. I want to shout loudly that I am proud of my india if women will be safe.
I am not crying because these kind of incidents are happing with women but I am crying because these kind of incidents are not being prevented in india.
The one and only solution for this is a capital punishment and i want all the women to be strong physically so that if any incident would happen to any women in future they should protect themself first.
I ask the people of india to join hands to fight against these kind of incident's and to prevent and to fight for women's rig
I second Ms.Sarawathi on this issue. Well said. It is a step by step
process which involves reforms to be brought in the moral values through
education, other such measures.
With so many incidents of rapes and other forms of crimes committed against female sex on rise one can easily conclude that we have become morally degraded and insensitive human beings . As one of the anchors of a Hindi news channel rightly said inspite of imparting sex education to children they should be imparted sound moral education . The aim of society should be to create good humans
I can't understand where the country is going.the best thing we need
to go back to our basics and every one has moral values otherwise this
type of things we can not stop, even though laws can be strictest
I fully agree with the comments. We need very strong measures
socially, politically and educationally. We have to change the mindset of
our young generation.Political system in the country has to change. Some
of the politicians I would say most of them think once they have been
elected, MPs,or MLAs they got a God given right to say anything and do
what ever they like. There should be some criteria to stand in
elections, some minimum stander of education and behavior in public
life.Zero tolerance in selecting people for elections.
If a man become beast in the guise of human there is no way to escape
from his beastly acts. The boy who raped his sister although from
another mother seems such a beast. If a girl is not safe in her home
where on the earth she takes refuge. Such nasty and shameful act
dirtied the atmosphere now. It is really unbearable to think if our
sisters and mothers fear to be with us which they believe as their
protectors.
The main problem is that many people fear to register complain. It is not possible that this rape was not known to the parents. Steps, should have been taken at that time only. Who knows, if she was not molested and did not complain. Her brother would have repeated such shameful thing again. Even, in our society many rape cases are not registered because of fear of society and future of the victim. Sad, but true.
The rape and than molestation- the news of the teenage girl is tragic
and shocking. It again proves the fact that violence against women of
any kind and degree is associated with male psyche and mentality. It
is not the displacement of Indian male who are reacting violently as
was argued by Prof Kapoor some days ago. The problems are with
education, upbringing, lax legal and police system coupled with
'hollow emancipation' of women folks. we need to correct every aspects
of this deep rooted mentality, and have to improve step by step.
what is happening to this country?? it saddens me no end. i can't even
imagine the plight of this girl. so tragic! shame.
