A 16-year-old allegedly hanged herself inside Vijay Vihar police station in Outer Delhi here on Saturday.

According to the police, the teenager had gone missing from the Vasant Kunj (North) police station area on Friday and a case was registered under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code in this connection.

A passer-by spotted her at Rithala metro station on Saturday afternoon and took her to the Vijay Vihar police station. The Outer Delhi Police then contacted the South Delhi police to inform them that the girl had been found.

While efforts were being made to contact her family, she went into a room meant for female police personnel and hanged herself.

A magisterial probe has been ordered into the matter.
