A minibus ferrying 12 students and two teachers of Vishwa Bharti School in Sector 28 turned turtle near Golf Course metro station in Noida around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, the police said, adding that the bus driver sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Matand, the 31-year-old resident of Mamura, is undergoing treatment at a nearby private hospital, the police said.

“According to eyewitnesses, an auto appeared in front of the minibus as it was turning towards the school. The driver tried to prevent a collision but lost control of the vehicle,” said Gautam Budh Nagar Traffic Inspector Layak Singh.

Locals rescued the students and teachers by breaking the windows.

“This minibus was arranged privately by parents. Two children sustained minor injuries and were given first aid in school,” said Principal Anjali Rajdhan.
