Metro services to close 3 hours before time on Diwali day

Metro services in the national capital will close three hours before normal time on Friday on the Diwali day, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said today.

On account of ‘Bhai Duj’ on Sunday, Delhi Metro will run 33 extra trains which will make as many as 453 additional trips to cater to the festival rush, a DMRC spokesman said.

On Diwali day, Metro service will start as usual at 6 AM and the last Metro train service will start at 8:00 PM from terminal stations of all the six lines.

The terminal stations are Dilshad Garden, Rithala, Jahangir Puri, Huda City Centre, Noida City Centre, Dwarka Sector—21, Yamuna Bank, Anand Vihar, Inderlok, Mundka, Central Secretariat and Sarita Vihar, the spokesman said.

Usually, metro services close at 11 PM.

“In view of the expected rise in the number of commuters using the Delhi Metro , DMRC will run 33 extra trains on all lines, thus making 453 extra trips,” the spokesman said.
