Amidst the ongoing war of words between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep S. Puri on the proposed fare hike, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Board on Monday decided not to interfere in the matter.
The new fare will come into force from Tuesday. The Board meeting was convened following persistent demand by Mr. Kejriwal. Delhi Chief Secretary M.M. Kutty conveyed The CM’s wish that the fare hike recommended by the Fare Fixation Committee should be put on hold and a new committee should be constituted.
Secretary Urban Affairs D.S. Mishra, said that under Section 37 of the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002, recommendations of the FFC are binding.
