A 22-year-old mentally unfit man was caught and fined for travelling in the ladies coach at Malviya Nagar metro station on Friday evening, officials said on Saturday.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said women passengers objected to the Savitri Nagar resident travelling in the ladies coach and made him deboard the train at Saket metro station.

“They handed him over to the CISF and DMRC officials. He was fined ₹250,” said CISF PRO Hemendra Singh.

Viral video

Meanwhile, a video showing the man sitting at the station bleeding profusely from the mouth has gone viral.

A senior police officer said a few people suspected him of theft and thrashed him.

However, Mr. Singh said the man sustained injuries after he jumped on the track and started running towards Malviya Nagar metro station soon after he was caught.

He said the station controller was informed about the man running on the track. Officials caught him and brought him back to Malviya Nagar metro station.

Mr. Singh added the man was unable to give coherent answers to questions posed by officials.

Father called

“His father was called and he informed the officials that his son was mentally unfit. The father said the son is undergoing treatment for his condition,” said a CISF official.

The 22-year-old was later released into the custody of his father.
