The Max hospital in Shalimar Bagh resumed operations on Wednesday morning following a stay order issued by the Court of the Financial Commissioner on the cancellation of its licence by the Delhi government on December 8. The hospital group had filed an appeal with the appellate authority about a week ago.

The Financial Commissioner is a statutory post and the incumbent “exercises the powers of the Lieutenant Governor or Chief Commissioner, delegated under various statutes”.

The government had cited multiple instances of alleged medical negligence, including the November 30 case in which a baby was found alive after being declared dead along with its stillborn twin by doctors at the hospital; the baby succumbed a week later.

The deceased infant’s family, which had been agitating outside the hospital until its licence was revoked, resumed its protest on Wednesday.
