A man working with a private airline was stabbed to death by two men when he objected to the eve-teasing of a girl in the Palam area of South-West Delhi.

The tragic incident took place around 10 p.m. on Wednesday when the victim, who is a resident of Palam, was on his way home.

Narrating the sequence of events, a police officer said: “The victim, later identified as Manoj Sharma, was returning to his residence from work when he was attacked by two unidentified men in lane no. 14 of Palam. Eyewitnesses told us that two men in the locality were eve-teasing a girl when Manoj confronted them. One of them then pulled out a knife and stabbed him. Hearing the commotion, several passers-by rushed to the spot and found the victim lying in a pool of blood”.

The assailants had vanished from the scene by then. Locals called up the police control room and the victim was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, the officer said.

Case registered

A case of murder against unknown persons has been registered at the Palam police station and investigations are on to ascertain their identities.

According to the police, the victim worked as a technician with Indigo Airlines.

He lived with his family at Sadh Nagar in Palam Colony and is survived by his 72-year-old father, wife and an 11-year-old son.
