Man shot dead, ₹3.5 lakh robbed

A gas agency employee was allegedly shot dead by suspected robbers on Monday evening, who fled with a bag containing ₹3.5 lakh in outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, the police said.

Waylaid by three men

Jagannath, who was in his 40s, and his uncle worked with a gas agency. They were on the way to the agency owner’s home with the day’s earnings when their motorcycle was waylaid by three motorcycle-borne men, the police said, adding that the accused had covered their faces.

Mr. Jagannath, who was the pillion rider, was holding the bag containing the money. The accused tried to snatch the bag from him but he resisted, the police said. One of the accused fired at him and fled with the bag. He was taken to a hospital, where he died during treatment, the police said.
