: A fast food joint supervisor was allegedly murdered by a friend for expressing his desire to win over the affections of the latter’s girlfriend.

The accused, 33-year-old Vishnu Subedi, was nabbed from West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on July 21.

On July 14, Subedi had visited victim Rishi Ram Panth at his rented house in Basai Darapur. The two had consumed alcohol till late in the night. During this period, Rishi had allegedly asked the accused to allow him to be friends with his girlfriend. He had also allegedly made inappropriate comments.

Enraged, the accused had slit Rishi’s throat, and made away with cash worth Rs. 20,000 and the mobile phone of the deceased.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar said Rishi’s decomposed body was recovered from his house two days later.

“The body was discovered by his elder brother who was worried as Rishi had not make any contact with his family; his cell phone was also found switched off,” said Mr. Kumar.

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that Rishi had been last seen with Subedi on July 14 at Netaji Subhash Place where the former worked. Subedi had also been missing from his residence in Punjabi Bagh.

“The day after the murder, Subedi boarded a train to Siliguri in West Bengal. But when he got to know that the police were after him, he decided to pick his documents from his residence and run away to Nepal,” said Mr. Kumar.
