A 21-year-old boy was allegedly murdered over mistaken identity by three persons, including two minors, in North-West Delhi's Wazirabad on Wednesday. All the three accused have been held.

The victim Golu (21) had gone to buy milk when the three persons surrounded him and asked his name. As he uttered his name, they started stabbing him, said the police.

When the police launched the investigation, they found that the attackers were related to another young man Sanjeev Raja who was killed on Sunday.

“We also found that they killed this Golu mistaking him for his namesake, the brother of a man who they suspected had murdered Sanjeev,” said a police officer.

He added that Sanjay (19) and two minor distant relatives of Sanjeev decided to avenge his death and ended up murdering a person who had nothing to with the murder.

“Four persons had allegedly killed Sanjeev on Sunday, two of them were minors. The two adults involved in the case were arrested on Sunday, but the minors had been absconding. Relatives were actually looking for these absconding minors in order to take revenge and killed Golu, the wrong person,” said the officer.
