A man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a double murder case, said the Gurugram Police, adding that a countrymade pistol and a cartridge has been recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Snatching team of Gurugram Police arrested Jaggan Nath alias Jaggi at Sikanderpur village on Wednesday for allegedly being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Jaggi, from Sultanpur in Bihar, lives in Silokhera village near South City-I.

Double murder

Anti-Snatching Team incharge Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar said the accused has confessed to his involvement in the murder of two men in Silokhera village on the intervening night of November 2-3 last year.

Mr. Kumar said that Jaggi, who has been to jail twice in different criminal cases, was loitering in the area along with his friends when they got into a feud with two rickshaw-pullers. Following this, they battered the rickshaw-pullers to death with sticks and iron rods.

The assailants then dumped the bodies in two separate police station areas. “While one of the body was found in Sector 29 police station area, another one was found in Sector 40 police station area. Separate cases were registered in this connection. However, no arrests were made as the assailants fled to their home towns,” said Mr. Kumar.

“Based on the statement of the accused, attempts are being made to arrest his accomplice,” added Mr. Kumar.

The police claim to have solved two more cases of murder with his arrest.
