A New York-bound passenger has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a 28-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

In plainclothes

The woman was in plainclothes and on duty undercover.

According to the police, the incident happened in the early hours of June 28 when Purushottam Lal Bagga noticed the woman near the helpdesk in the check-in area.

He allegedly stared at her before initiating a conversation, during which he misbehaved and made lewd gestures, she told the police. The woman is a CISF constable posted in the intelligence wing.

She overpowered the accused and informed her seniors and the police about the incident.

Accused booked

Mr. Bagga was booked under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman, punishable with a maximum term of one year or a fine, or both) of the IPC and arrested. The 45-year-old hails from Punjab, the police said.

Deployed for security

Personnel from the intelligence wing of the CISF in plainclothes are deployed to keep an eye on suspicious elements at sensitive areas including the airport and Delhi Metro stations.
