A 57-year-old allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Yamuna from the DND flyway on Thursday.

In this suicide note, Vinu Kumar Madan has blamed a payment dispute for his death. The incident was reported around 4 p.m. when some passersby spotted a man standing on the railing of the bridge. However, he jumped before patrol teams could stop him. His body has been recovered.

Prima facie, Mr. Madan, who retired as a storekeeper from the Navy nine years ago, had failed to repay the ₹10 lakh he had borrowed from a couple a year back. The Lajpat Nagar resident’s suicide note stated that the woman had allegedly been harassing him since then.

According to DCP (south-east) Romil Baaniya, a case under Section 306 pertaining to abetment to suicide will be registered.
