The 28-year-old son of a Delhi Police head constable was knifed by four unidentified persons on Sunday evening in south Delhi’s Lado Sarai in an alleged case of road rage.

The police have registered a case and are looking for the accused, who fled the spot.

Prince Tewatia, an employee with a call centre in Gurugram and resident of Saidulajab, was on his way home around 8 p.m. with his friend and colleague Paras Sharma when the incident happened.

Dropping colleague

“He was going to drop Mr. Sharma home as usual. The duo were at a red light before his house when their bike brushed against a parked scooty,” said his friend Rahul Yadav.

According to him, Mr. Tewatia told the accused to park the vehicle on the side and not in the middle of the road.

“The two groups got into an argument, followed by a minor physical fight. However, the fight ended and Mr. Tewatia went to drop Mr. Sharma,” added Mr. Yadav.

More attackers

It was when Mr. Tewatia was returning after dropping his colleague that the accused, now four in all, stopped and attacked him with a knife. Mr. Yadav said the victim called Mr. Sharma, informing him about the attack.

Some passersby saw the accused attacking Mr. Tewatia and raised an alarm, following which the attackers immediately fled the spot.

“Mr. Tewatia told us that the passersby tried to follow the four accused but they managed to escape,” added the friend.

Four stab wounds

The passersby rushed him to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was underwent treatment and was discharged on Monday morning.

“He has suffered four stab wounds on the back, right thigh and his hands,” informed Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal.

The police have registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and are examining CCTV footage to establish the identity of the accused.

Another incident

In another incident, two men were allegedly attacked by three minors in south-east Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar on Sunday night after the victims objected to the accused abusing and talking loudly in public.

The police have registered a case on charges of attempt to murder and common intention, and apprehended the accused.

Faizal and Sonu were allegedly stabbed with a glass bottle by the accused in a fit of rage, said the police.

“They were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Faizal was discharged and Sonu is undergoing treatment,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Romil Baaniya.
