A man has been arrested for stealing a policeman’s uniform and impersonating an officer at the office of a news channel in Noida’s Film City on Monday morning.

The man was angry with the organisation’s security guards for deflating the tyres of his car. The vehicle was parked in front of the office building. According to the police, Laxman (31), who runs a food outlet in Delhi, has been arrested and sent to jail.

“The incident happened around 7 a.m. when Laxman tried to leave from Film City. Suspecting him of stealing the car, the guards deflated the tyres,” said Anil Kumar Shai, Station House Officer, Sector- 20 police station. Laxman threatened to inform the police. He left to get police “help”, but returned in a cop’s uniform.

“As he reached the Film City police chowki, he found a vacant room where a uniform was hanging. He wore the uniform and returned, pretending to be a cop. He barged into the office and threatened the security in-charge and other officers, but the guards recognised him and handed him over to the police,” Mr. Shai added.

The police have booked him under Sections 170 (personating a public servant), 171 (wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent), 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.
