A 30-year-old man has alleged that he was brutally beaten by police personnel on Thursday night after his car touched their bike in Rohini. The police, however, have denied the charges.

Amit, a resident of Rohini’s Sector 11, was on his way home around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday night when his car brushed against the policemen’s bike. He alleged that he was then taken to Prashant Vihar police station, where he was beaten up by four police officers through the night before being let off the next morning. He also alleged that he had to pay a hefty amount to be released.

He was then taken to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal, meanwhile, said that Amit’s complaint had been received. The DCP said that according to a medical examination, he was injured after he fell while walking in an inebriated state. “His medial exam shows he was drunk. There were no injuries, except an abrasion on the arm that happened when he got out of his car and could not maintain his balance since he had consumed alcohol,” the DCP said.
