Maliwal visits forensic lab

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday suggested that the police should send a code to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) with samples it gives for testing instead of submitting FIR details to avoid corruption.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal was informed during her visit to the FSL, Rohini, that the police submits complete details of the FIR as well as the address of the accused to the lab while sending samples for testing. “This should be avoided at all cost as it increases scope for corruption and collusion with the accused at the level of the FSL,” she said.

According to a DCW statement, she will take up the matter with the Delhi police.

Ms. Maliwal said the DCW shall give detailed recommendations to the Delhi government, like improving infrastructure.
