Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Maken has said that security agencies would work round the clock to ensure that security arrangements at the Commonwealth Games stadiums do not become anembarrassment for the Government. The stadiums, in fact, are yet to be handed over to the Ministry for security clearances.
Inaugurating a conference on homeland security organised jointly by ASSOCHAM and INDESEC here on Monday, Mr. Maken said it would have been ideal if the Games Organising Committee had handed over all stadia for hosting the Commonwealth Games to the Home Ministry well within the deadline.
“Since that has not happened, the Ministry has asked all its security and intelligence forces to undertake the job of ensuring fool-proof stadia security arrangements even if they are required to work overtime,” Mr. Maken added.
The Minister hoped that the Organising Committee in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports would handover all the stadiums as soon as possible and thus avert any public criticism and adverse publicity in this regard.
