One person was killed while another injured in a major fire that broke out in a plastic factory in Narela, during the early hours of Saturday.

The fire was doused after nearly nine hours of fire fighting. Both the victims are staff members of the factory.

A fire department official said the call was made at 12.10 a.m. and two dozen fire tenders were pressed into service.

The police said the casualty figure could have been much higher had the fire broken out at any other time of the day.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.
