All’s well that ends well in moviedom and so it was for ‘Life of Pi’ star and St. Stephen’s College student Suraj Sharma who was finally permitted to sit for his examinations scheduled for Friday, after he missed his first examination on Wednesday due to shortage of attendance.

St. Stephen’s confirmed that Mr. Sharma would be given his admit card on the day of the examination, explaining that the college had softened its stand when the rising star submitted written assignments on Thursday to make up for his lack of attendance.

“We had imposed some written academic work on him that was to make up for his missed classes. He had failed to do so, and therefore, he could not sit for his examination on Wednesday. However, we gave him time till 5 p.m. on Thursday by which time he submitted those assignments and we decided to let him take his remaining examinations,” said St. Stephen’s Bursar K.M. Mathew.

A minimum of 66.6 per cent attendance is required for a student to be eligible for taking examinations. The first year Philosophy student had missed most of his classes as he was on an international tour to promote the Ang Lee film, which is set to release on Friday, the same day as Mr. Sharma’s examination.
