Life imprisonment for 11 people in murder case

A local court in Shajapur has awarded life imprisonment to 11 people in a 2014 murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge H. K. Mishra sentenced Mohan Singh, Arjun Singh, Bharat Singh, Rahul Singh, Lacchu Singh, Sanjay Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Laad Singh, Shankarlal, Bhagwan Singh and Makhan Singh, while acquitted Karan Singh on the grounds of lack of evidence against him, MP Police Headquarters (PHQ) spokesperson said on Saturday.

Guilty

All the accused, residents of Hanoti village in Shajapur district, were found guilty of killing Prabhulal over an old enmity on October 25, 2014.

The accused took Prabhulal to an agricultural field and murdered him by attacking with a sword and an axe.

Later, a case was registered at Maxi Police Station under sections 302 (murder), 147 rioting, 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object of that assembly) of the IPC, the spokesperson said. - PTI
