: A day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government notified its policy for app-based premium buses scheduled to be rolled out soon, the office of Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung sought the file pertaining to the project from it.

According to Raj Niwas, the government did not seek approval from the L-G before notifying the scheme, with officials associated with it claiming that there was “no need to do the same” in relation to declaring registrations for it open from June 1.

“The L-G has written to the Chief Minister’s Office seeking the file pertaining to the app-based Premium Bus Scheme which was notified without his consent on Monday,” said a government official.

Notified by the Transport Department on Monday, the scheme aims at gradually weaning the average car user away from private vehicles and onto public transportation.
