In order to spread awareness about various issues regarding the safety and convenience of commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has uploaded seven short public awareness films on the Internet.
Humorously titled Lallan Khilawan, Mr. Sahi and Mr. Galat and Kimti Lal, etc., the films seek to entertain viewers and well as educated them at the same time.
The films are available on the home page of Delhi Metro’s official website — www.delhimetrorail.com.
The films, available both in English and Hindi, deal with various topics related to convenience and safe journey of commuters such as boarding, de-boarding, commuter etiquette, security, etc.
Besides these, there are films on other aspects such as the DMRC corporate culture, eco-friendly initiatives to conserve the environment, and completion of 10 years of Metro operations in 2012.
The films can be downloaded easily, be seen on mobile phones and shared on social media as well as platforms such as WhatsApp. The DMRC has urged viewers to share these films with as many people as possible. In the future, the DMRC said, many more films on topics such as disaster management and emergency response in crisis situations may also be uploaded.
“The Delhi Metro intends to screen these films at the Metro stations in the days to come.”
Keeping in mind that the Internet today is a powerful medium to convey important messages as well as information, these films have also been uploaded on popular video streaming website — Youtube.
The Delhi Metro took a series of initiatives recently to provide commuters with internet-based facilities. Apart from the online smartcard recharge facility, a mobile app has been launched to provide commuters with all details related to the Metro. The official website also boasts of facilities like an interactive route map and fare calculator.
