Lakme Grand Finale venue changed on MNS protest

March 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - MUMBAI:

The venue of the Lakme Grand Finale was changed on Sunday night after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena protested against holding the event at the previous venue of Bhau Daji Laad Museum. Fashion designer Anamika Khanna’s closing show, which had actor Kareena Kapoor as the show-stopper, finally took place at Palladium Hotel.

“Yes, the venue of Lakme Grand Finale has been changed from Bhau Daji Laad Museum to Palladium Hotel. But I cannot comment on the reason for the change of venue,” a public relations executive told The Hindu late in the night.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Sanjay Naik said the MNS protested against the previously decided venue, prompting the officials to cancel the show there.

“A three-member committee …has been formed to preserve the museum. But the space is being lent out for events like shows, parties. This is not right and we are going to complain against this,” a statement issued by the MNS leader said.
