A 35-year-old labourer was found dead with strangulation marks on his neck inside an under-construction building in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar on Monday morning. The police said that they have registered a murder case.

Govinda, from Mathura, was allegedly murdered in the small hours of Monday, the police said adding that his body was found around 9 a.m. by a labourer near metro pillar on Najafgarh Road.

“Govinda had come to Delhi from his village around a month and a half back. He used to work as a mason at the site in the day and stay there at night,” said DCP (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh.

The labourer who spotted the body told the police that he entered the first floor of the building and saw Govinda lying unconscious. When he checked, the victim had already died, he said.

Following this, he made a PCR call. “Crime team was called to inspect the spot and his body was taken to a hospital for post-mortem. Prima facie, the cause is strangulation but the report will make it clear,” said Mr. Singh. There were no suspects in the case till Monday night. “The case is being investigated from all angles including disputes back in his village, enmity with others at site, personal relationships or trying to resist robbery ,” the DCP said. Victim is survived by his wife and son.
