Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal is all set to hit the ground running with the Chief Minister-designate driving from Ramlila Maidan to the Delhi Secretariat, where he is scheduled to attend a host of meetings with his Cabinet colleagues and top officials on Saturday.
First Cabinet meetingWithin two hours after taking oath as the seventh Chief Minister of Delhi, officials said, Mr. Kejriwal will chair his first Cabinet meeting, which will be followed by a series of meetings with top officials of different departments, particularly Power and the Delhi Jal Board — two key departments on top of the AAP agenda.
“After attending the Cabinet meeting at 2 p.m., he is likely to meet the head of departments and the secretary-level officials in the auditorium. It is not clear whether it will be a formal address, or an interactive session,” said an official.
Officials said the AAp leader will also meet Principal Secretary (Power), the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Jal Board on Saturday. In view of the recent hike of the CNG prices, Mr. Kejriwal is also likely to meet the managing director of the Indraprastha Gas Limited and the Transport Commissioner, sources added.
Apart from the Delhi government officials, Mr. Kejriwal is also likely to meet Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi at the Chief Minister’s Office later in the day to discuss law and order issues.
While Mr. Kejriwal has announced his intention to travel by Delhi Metro to the Ramlila Maidan for the swearing-in, officials said, Mr. Kejriwal might leave the venue in the official car designated for the Chief Minister.
“A car will be parked at the Ramlila Maidan. The decision to drive to office in his personal car or the official one will be his,” said an official.
