In what government sources alleged was a conspiracy to render it defunct, a key official posted at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has been transferred by the BJP-led (BJP) Centre last month.
A senior government official claimed that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office was “virtually left with no officials to man key posts” after the transfer of Geetika Sharma, a 1996-batch officer of the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) as per a decision taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“Ms. Sharma was serving as an Additional Secretary to the CM and handling key responsibilities after Mr. Kejriwal’s personal secretary Rajendra Kumar sought retirement,” said the official.
CM to approach MHA
“The CMO is virtually left with no officers what with Sukesh Jain, who belongs to the IRS and was on deputation to the Delhi government, being relieved and proceeding to join his parent cadre and another additional secretary, Deepak Virmani, proceeding on study leave and deputy secretary Tarun Sharma also no longer available,” the official said.
Sources claimed that the Delhi government will approach the MHA on the matter “soon”.
