Justice Dalveer Bhandari of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) visited a Delhi government shelter home equipped with a Mohalla Clinic in Sarai Kale Khan on Saturday night. He was accompanied by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

‘Model shelter home’

Praising the facilities at the night shelter, Justice Bhandari stressed the need for similar facilities for the homeless across the city. Justice Bhandari was re- elected to the ICJ in The Hague last November.

“This is a model shelter home. Justice Bhandari appreciated the Delhi government’s efforts...After seeing the arrangements, he stressed the need for setting up such night shelters for the homeless at various places...We will replicate these homes in other areas soon,” Mr. Jain said.

Last January, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan had commended the government’s flagship Mohalla Clinic project, aimed at providing free primary healthcare to the residents.
