The police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered the knife used to murder Junaid, who was stabbed in a local train on the Delhi-Mathura route last month, at the instance of prime accused Naresh.

The police told the local court here that the knife was recovered from a pond in Jatola village in Haryana’s Palwal. Naresh’s maternal uncle belongs to this village.

Shirt yet to be found

The police also claimed to have recovered a rucksack, a pair of shoes and a gamchha. The court, meanwhile, has sent Naresh to police custody in view of the police’s plea that his blood-stained shirt was yet to be recovered, and more accused yet to be identified.

“Naresh has maintained that he kept the shirt at his room in Maharashtra. We have already sent a team to recover it,” said Mohinder Singh, DSP, Haryana Railway Police. Naresh will be produced before the the court on July 16.
