A local court here on Monday adjourned the proceedings in the Junaid murder case till January 29.

Some eye-witnesses were slated to be examined by the court on Monday, but Additional District and Sessions Judge Y.S. Rathor ordered to adjourn the matter in view of the Punjab and Haryana High Court staying the trial court proceedings in the case this past week. “The next date of hearing is fixed for January 29,” said Advocate Nibrash Ahmed, the complainant’s counsel.

The High Court’s single Bench had on November 27 dismissed a petition filed by Junaid’s father Jalaluddin seeking a CBI inquiry into the murder.

Mr. Jalaluddin had challenged the judgment by submitting an appeal in the case following which the Division Bench had on last Tuesday issued notice of motion to the CBI and Haryana government.

The High Court had also stayed the trial proceedings in the Faridabad court.

A few policemen, a Palwal Civil Hospital doctor and a sarpanch of two villages have already been examined by the court among others.
