IPL betting racket busted

A gang of 12 men was arrested for their alleged involvement in the operation of a gambling rink from a house located at an industrial area in South-West Delhi.

The brains behind the said rink was Dheeraj Makkar (35), who was inspired by the classic Bollywood hit, The Great Gambler , dreamt of becoming a millionaire, and wanted to settle in Dubai, said R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West).

“As per information received on May 18, one IPL gambling racket was being operated from a house in the Naraina Industrial Area,” said Mr. Sanjeev. “The premises was raided and as many as 12 persons found involved in gambling were arrested along with the kingpin, Dheeraj Makkar,” he added.
