An executive with a communication company hanged himself from a ceiling fan inside his house in Sonipat here on Saturday and live-streamed the suicide on his Facebook page.

Deepak Kumar, a resident of Dev Nagar, had allegedly disclosed the affair of his neighbour, a Delhi Police employee, to her husband, a Haryana Police ASI.

Man depressed

Deepak was allegedly depressed after his neighbour and her alleged paramour — an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Delhi Police — had allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.

Deepak had left behind a suicide note on the wall saying he had come to know about the illicit relationship six months ago, following which he was threatened. In his suicide note, he said his neighbour also had illicit relations with another Delhi Police employee.

Alone at home

Deepak was alone at the time of incident. His parents had gone to Mathura and he had sent his wife and child to a relative’s house. “He live-streamed his suicide on his Facebook page. Some of his friends were alerted to the live streaming and rushed to his house. He had already hanged himself before they could reach him. They took him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” said Station House Officer, City Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ajay Malik.

Appeals to father

Deepak also left behind a 60-page diary giving details of the alleged relationship of the two and the threats issued to him. He appealed to his father in the suicide note not to reach an agreement with the accused. A case on charges of abetment to suicide under IPC has been registered against the woman and her alleged paramour. “Several teams have been constituted and raids are being mounted to arrest the two,” said Mr. Malik.
