Having achieved 100% placement for its students for the seventh consecutive year since its first batch of 2011, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Rohtak has now claimed to become the first IIM among the 14 second- and third-generation IIMs to achieve complete placement for its current batch.
Congratulating its students and faculty on the occasion, IIM-Rohtak director Dheeraj Sharma said 100% placement in the current economy demonstrated that their students were among the best and the most sought after in the country.
Rushi Kumar Vyas (23) who got recruited in Arcesium India through on-campus placement this year, credited the institute’s proximity to the National Capital Region and initiatives such as monthly management summits for its impeccable record on placements.
‘Institute location’
“The strategic location of the institute, around 90 km from the Capital, has given the students an opportunity for regular interaction with the industry. The recent emphasis on conducting workshops and summits after our new director joined a year ago has helped in greater interaction with the prospective employers and better job opportunities for students,” said Mr. Vyas.
Shahnaz Hussain (27), who worked with Tata Consultancy Services for three years before enrolling herself in a Masters Degree in Business Administration course at IIM-Rohtak, said, “We have students from information technology, marketing and commerce sectors pursuing MBA in Rohtak offering a wide variety to the prospective employers,” said Ms. Hussain.
She has a job offer from a Noida-based IT company and is likely to join in April this year. She said that a majority of the faculty played a critical role in achieving 100% placements.
More companies
There was a marked increase in the number of companies visiting the campus this year with an addition of 40-odd new companies.
There was also a presence of international recruiters like Tolaram Group from Dubai.
Marketing stood as the top recruiter this season with 29% of all the offers being made in this domain.
New campus
Since the institute presently runs from a transit campus inside Maharishi Dayanand University campus, Mr. Vyas expressed hope that placement opportunities would increase after it shifted to its operation to an upcoming 200-acre campus on the outskirts later this year.
However, another student, Abhishek Mahalpure, who secured a job in HDFC Life, said the institute has adequate infrastructure and will soon increase with growing alumni network.
