ICSE, ISC toppers score big with 99.2% and 99.75%

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Friday declared the results for both Classes X (ICSE) and XII (ISC).

The overall pass percentage for Class XII was 96.46 and 98.5 for Class X. Toppers from both Classes scored over 99 per cent.

“The ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) Examinations, 2015, showed a marginal increase in pass percentages over the previous year’s results”, said Council CEO Gerry Arathoon.

While Class X registered an increase of 0.01 per cent, Class XII showed a 0.18 per cent rise against last year’s results.

Abineet Parichha from Odisha secured the top position in Class X this year with a score of 99.2 per cent. The second position is shared by four students who scored 99 per cent — Sudarshan R. from Bengaluru, Isha Sethi from Mumbai, Manan Manish Shah from Mumbai and Jyotsana Srivastava from Lucknow.

The third position is shared by 10 students with a score of 98.8 per cent.

In Class XII, the top position has been bagged by Mumbai’s Aadyaa Maddi with 99.75 per cent.

Mumbai’s Mansi Puggal secured the second position with 99.50 per cent, while the third position is shared by Arkadeb Sengupta and Kavita Desai from Kolkata at 99.25 per cent.

In Delhi-NCR, Adya Joshi and Prithvir Bhalla, both students of The Shri Ram School in Gurgaon secured the top position in Class XII with a score of 99 per cent.

From the NCR, 40 and 26 schools presented candidates for ICSE and ISC respectively.

A total of 1, 68,591 students, including 75, 691 girls, took the Class X exam this year, while 38,834 boys and 33,235 girls appeared for the Class XII exam.

The results, once again, saw girls outshine the boys. The number of girls who failed the Class X examination this year is 806 against 1,728 boys.

Similarly for Class XII, 1,811 boys were unsuccessful compared to 737 girls.

In terms of region-wise performance, the Southern region recorded the highest pass percentage in both Classes.

The pass percentage in Class X stood at 99.68 per cent, while in Class XII it was 99.14 per cent.

The schools abroad have recorded 100 per cent pass percentage in both Classes.

“While Class X examination was held in 63 written subjects, including 22 Indian and 13 foreign languages, as well as one classical language, the Class XII examination was conducted in 50 written subjects, including 15 Indian, 6 foreign and one classical language,” Mr. Arathoon added.

Last year, 1,58,833 students (70,624 girls and 88,209 boys) appeared for the Class X exam and 71,141 (32,482 girls and 38,659 boys ) took the Class XII exam.

The Council was able to release the results two weeks earlier this year thanks to the use of Live Ink Character Recognition (LICR) technology, which helped compile the results faster.
