I will continue to praise good work by Modi, says Vishwas

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on Friday said he will continue to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi for good work as he is the leader of the country and not a particular political party.

Criticism too

Speaking to a television channel, Mr. Vishwas, who has often been labelled as a Bharatiya Janata Party sympathiser, said his praise or criticism of the Prime Minister depended on the latter’s actions.

“For instance, when Mr. Modi went to Siachen to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers, I appreciated the move. But when he hosted the Chinese President despite the incursions, I opposed it,” said Mr. Vishwas in response to a question.

He further added that he had criticised both the Congress and the BJP unequivocally on several issues.

“I am neither a pseudo-secularist like those in the Congress nor a pseudo-nationalist like the BJP ones.”

Mr. Vishwas reminded the channel that though he and others in the India Against Corruption campaign had raised questions against several United Progressive Alliance Ministers, including Pranab Mukherjee, they removed his pictures from the campaign when he went on to become the President.

Attacks Bedi

The AAP leader also attacked his former colleague and BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, alleging that she had diluted her stand on several issues, including political funding and autonomy of institutions like the Central Bureau of Investigation after joining the BJP.
