“I have been preparing for five years for this exam,” said JEE (Advanced) Delhi topper Kartikeya Gupat, who is also the fourth topper nationally.

“When I had school, I usually could put in about four or five hours of study everyday, but as soon as the holidays begin , I usually put in about nine hours minimum.”

The effort seems to have paid off; he scored 323 out of 360.

A national topper and anyone chosen for the first counselling usually have the choice of whichever Indian Institute of Technology or course they want.

“I want IIT-Delhi only and their Computer Science course,” he said, adding that he was especially grateful to his teachers in school.

“I am also thankful to the trainers at the ‘FIIT JEE’ coaching institute where I have been regularly attending classes for almost five years now.”

Coveted course

IIT Delhi Director Prof. R.K. Shevgaonkar had said that there was no popular or coveted course in the Institute as such, with most students preferring to go by the trend. “I am going to do Computer Science only because I enjoy the subject,” added the 17-year-old Delhi topper.
