A 27-year-old vegetable vendor has been arrested in Baljeet Nagar here for allegedly making a call falsely claiming that a bomb was planted in the market. He was apparently angry over being targeted during an anti-encroachment drive.

The accused, Satish Kumar, made a call to the Police Control Room on January 17 saying that a bomb would go off in the local market. The call was declared hoax after nothing incriminating was found.

Taking up investigation, the police arrested Satish who purportedly told the police that he was angry over his push cart being removed during an anti-encroachment drive by the Patel Nagar Police. He claimed that when he told market ‘pradhan' Madan Lal about it, he offered to give him new space only if he made a hoax call.

The police said efforts were on to arrest Madan.
