For nearly two hours after murdering his daughter and injuring his wife with a knife, Kishan Kumar kept watching television, said the police.
“He was remorseless. An injured wife crying in pain and a dead daughter in the room did not deter Kishan Kumar from switching on the TV instead of making any effort to take the wife to the hospital or even regret what he had done,” said a senior police officer.
Such was his brutality that Kishan had chopped off some of Cecelia’s hair to inflict wounds on her forehead.
He purportedly told the cops that he ensured that the wounds on Cecelia’s body were superficial because he wanted to keep her alive and make her suffer, watching her dead daughter lying in front of her.
“He took some kind of a sadistic delight in prolonging Cecelia’s ordeal,” said the officer.
Cecelia works as a domestic servant in Noida while Kishan has been in the Capital for quite sometime working as an electrician. She would come to Shakarpur to meet a relative while he also visited the same locality to meet a friend.
The two met each other through common friends and soon fell in love.
Even before their marriage, they had been in a live-in relationship for several months, said the officer.
“Some of Kishan’s friends had been introduced to Cecelia before their marriage and would visit the couple’s house once in a while.
Kishan suspected that one of the friends had an extra marital relationship with his wife and would assault her for even speaking to him,” said the officer.
