HC asks govt., civic bodies for affidavits

March 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the Aam Aadmi Party government and municipal corporations of the Capital to file affidavits with regard to the issue of payment of salaries and arrears to municipal employees.

The municipal corporations informed a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath that all employees, except some safai karamcharis of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, had been given salary for February. When the counsel representing the municipal corporations alleged that the Delhi government was holding up finances despite knowing the condition of the civic bodies, the court said the issue required consideration in view of the Delhi government’s assertion that it had already released funds.

The matter has been posted for further hearing on April 7.
