With a view to provide smooth Metro connectivity between Faridabad and Gurgaon, the Haryana government has requested the Union Ministry for Urban Development to construct a Metro link between the existing Qutub Minar (on Yellow Line) and Badarpur (on Violet Line) stations by 2018.
The link would cut down the travelling time for Gurgaon commuters bound for Faridabad, and vice-versa, as they are currently required to go all through to the Central Secretariat station for interchange between the routes.
The development was revealed at a review meeting of various schemes for Faridabad, chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh. Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar was present.
He said that the Haryana Urban Development Authority would request the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to carry out a feasibility study for construction of a Metro line to cater to the requirement of sectors across the Agra canal.
He said that HUDA would examine the feasibility of widening of various sector dividing roads which connect sectors across the Gurgaon-Agra canal.
The authority would also construct railway under bridge near the railway crossing of Sector-46.
He said that HUDA would construct a four-lane bridge on the Gurgaon-Agra canal on Palla road and Itmadpur road. In addition, one Gymkhana Club for the area of Sector-62 to 64 and new Sector-75-89 across the Agra canal would also be constructed .
To make towns like Faridabad slum-free, the Chief Minister asked the officers to send a delegation to Mumbai for study of Mumbai model. He also suggested constitution of a committee for increasing income sources of the municipal corporations .
He informed that he had raised the issue to further strengthen the National Capital Region Planning Board with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister also suggested having a dialogue with the Uttar Pradesh government on irrigation water being supplied from the Agra canal in Hathin . All possible efforts would be made for providing drinking water supply to Faridabad and water for irrigation to Hathin .
