: The Haryana government and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will soon sign an agreement to start a Pod Taxi Service from Delhi to Gurgaon.

Action will also soon be taken to remove encroachments in the Haryana region for completion of the construction of Dwarka Expressway.

The plans were announced during a meeting between Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The Gurgaon-Dwarka stretch is an 18-km-long artery provided in the Development Plan of Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex (GMUC) linking Dwarka and South West Delhi with Gurgaon-Manesar and beyond.

A major portion of the road has been constructed, but due to some write petitions challenging acquisition 1.3 km of the road is yet to be built. The Punjab and Haryana High Court disposed off these writ petitions in May last year. In order to facilitate the construction of this artery, the State government had framed a settlement proposal to re-settle these persons in Sectors 37C and 110A in Gurgaon.

Work on the 12-km pilot project of the metrino personal rapid transit system from Delhi-Gurgaon border to Sohna will start by June.

Mr. Khattar also discussed projects related to National Highways in the State and other transportation schemes related to the Centre.

Mr. Gadkari presented a proposal of Haryana Forest Development Corporation to make National Highways-10 green. Discussions were also held in the meeting regarding construction of a link bypass to connect National Highway- 8 with Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road of Gurgaon and construct bridges at Hero Honda Chowk and other places.

The Chief Minister said that with the support of the Union Minister, the process of construction of 12 new National Highways in the State was under way at a cost of Rs.30,000 crore.

Mr. Gadkari said that the progress of all schemes related to Haryana would be reviewed every three months.
