Even as the Budget Session of the Haryana Assembly got off to a start with Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki spelling out the works and priorities of the Manohar Lal Khattar Government in his address, the opposition Congress attacked the ruling BJP for coming out with a “bundle of white lies” through its White Paper and of pursuing an anti-farmer approach through the land acquisition ordinance.
Though the Congress leaders protested against the government policies on the streets and at party meetings, they did not disrupt Prof. Solanki’s address. The government used the address to announced several new policies.
It said education would be made job-oriented and value-based, especially for girls, and more government colleges will be opened for them.
At the schools level, it said value-based education would be provided in order to build character and inculcate ethical and moral values in young minds.
“The State Council of Educational Research and Training, Haryana has been directed to undertake revision of textbooks to achieve this objective and the new course curriculum will be implemented after wider consultations with all the stakeholders. At the same time, in accordance with the new ‘Haryana Sports and Physical Fitness Policy-2015’, Yoga classes will be conducted in each school.”
The Government also declared that all schools will have toilets by September 30, 2015 and no student of a government school in Haryana would sit on the floor after December 31, 2016, by when desks would be provided in all schools.
Meanwhile, the Congress has criticised the government for its anti-farmer policies. Party workers led by State president Ashok Tanwar, who had given a “Chalo Chandigarh” call against the land acquisition ordinance, protested against the alleged anti-people law and courted arrest. .
