Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday took a metro train from Central Secretariat to Badarpur to “save time and avoid traffic jams to reach Faridabad in time for a function”.
Interacting with commuters, Mr. Khattar said that the metro line will be extended from Faridabad to Ballabgarh and from Gurgaon to Dharuhera via Sohna. The work in Bahadurgarh is under progress and there is a plan to extend the metro line up to Kondli border, he said.
He added that after the completion of the proposed projects, metro services would be extended in the State as per the need of the people.
The Chief Minister said that this was not the first time he was travelling on a metro. “I have been travelling on the metro since the service started between Shahdara and Rithala. I feel it is better if we travel more using the public transport system,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that one should remain close to one’s roots and be among the people. It would not be good in a democratic system for a public figure to remain distant from the people, he said.
On being asked about the White Paper released by the government, the Chief Minister said that Haryana occupies the tenth position in the country. He said that the White Paper was not released to criticise anyone, but the aim was to apprise the people about the actual economic condition of the State.
The White Paper was released on the basis of facts, figures and reports, which aimed to understand loopholes in the management of finances so that accurate schemes are drafted to strengthen the economy of the State, said Mr. Khattar.
