A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death in south Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar, the police said on Tuesday.
The deceased, Danish, worked as a labourer in South Extension.
Left for work
He had left for work on March 10 but failed to return home since, said the police, adding that Danish was addicted to heroin and ganja.
The police suspect that he was killed by fellow drug addicts, who might have gotten into a brawl with him. The police have zeroed in on some suspects and are probing the matter.
“He would not return home for days and many a times he would be found sleeping in the nearby jungle. The family assumed he would be back in a few days and did not file a complaint,” said a senior police officer.
During investigation, it was learnt that Danish had reported for work on March 10 and 11. On March 12, a local saw several pigs surrounding a body and informed the police around 10 a.m.
Autopsy conducted
The autopsy was carried out on Tuesday at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, which suggested that he was stabbed to death and his body was eaten by animals.
His mother had committed suicide around 10 years ago. Depressed since her death, he turned to drugs, said the police.
Danish’s father remarried and would often rebuke him for his addiction.
