The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a 44-year-old resident of Gurugram for attacking an Army officer after he objected to her vehicle blocking his military truck’s path in Vasant Kunj here earlier this week.

However, the woman was granted bail by a Delhi court on Friday. Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen granted relief to the accused after she was produced in court.

Case registered

According to police, the incident happened on September 9 but was reported on September 13, following which a case was registered and the woman was arrested.

According to a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media, the woman is also seen abusing the victims.

The incident happened near Rajokri flyover around 1.30 p.m. on Monday. In their complaint, the victim and colleagues stated that they were on their way to Nizamuddin railway station from the NSG base in Manesar at the time of the incident.

The subedar who was leading the party said the woman overtook their truck while they were driving down Rajokri flyover and started zigzagging in the front.

Blocked the way

Their honking did not have the desired effect. Instead, the woman slowed down and refused to allow the truck to pass.

“She kept blocking the way as we tried to overtake her car. She slammed the brake after a while, compelling us to stop as well,” the officers said in their complaint.

The occupants of both vehicles came out and an argument ensued. The commanding officer, who tried to reason with the woman, was assaulted.

Slapped a few times

The video shows the woman holding him by his collar and slapping him a few times. In the meantime, a passerby recorded a video of the incident. The woman is seen threatening the Army personnel, who behaved cordially despite being attacked.

“We registered a case under Sections concerning preventing a public servant from conducting their duty and assault, and arrested the woman from her house in Gurugram,” said a senior police officer.
