The Gurgaon Police have a new address now with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday inaugurating a four-storey building to house the offices of Commissioner of Police and other senior officers on Sohna Road. A Haryana Cyber Crime Branch was also inaugurated on the occasion.
The new building houses the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (headquarters) and the Cyber cell on the ground floor and also a waiting room. The Commissioner of Police office is on the second floor with a lounge and the third floor houses a conference room, a public lounge and a computer section. A state-of-the-art Police Control Room along with city surveillance system is situated on the fourth floor. In its basement, it can house over 400 four-wheelers. The office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) and DCP (Traffic) will continue to be at Traffic Tower building in Block-A Sushant Lok. Built at the cost of over Rs.28 crore in a span of 22 months, the building adheres to the Energy Conservation Building Code. Equipped with biometric access control system and with provisions for rainwater harvesting and solar water heating, the building is the first-of-its-kind built by the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC). It is one the biggest buildings in Haryana housing the office of police with a covered area of over 135,000 sq. feet and the HPHC hope to get silver rating for the building for its energy efficiency.
The plan for the building was finalised in 2012. Work, though, did not start till March 2014, after a new layout plan was sanctioned converting the nine-storey building into a four-storey with a basement.
